Invicta FC is headed to Boston next month, and it’s bringing a strawweight title fight with it.
On Tuesday, promotion officials announced via press release that strawweight champ Danni McCormack (7-2) will defend her title against Karolina Wojcik (11-3) in the main event of Invicta FC 54 on October 27, 2023. The card is set to take place at the Citizens House of Blues in Boston, MA, and will mark the all-female fight promotion’s East Coast debut.
Ireland’s McCormack was the underdog back in March when she dethroned Brazilian champ Valesca Machado to capture the Invicta FC strawweight championship via a five-round unanimous decision.
The win was McCormack’s second in a row and second under the Invicta banner, after the SBG Ireland product got her start as a professional fighter with Bellator MMA.
Poland’s Wojcik fought the same fight as Danni McCormack’s title victory, defeating Ediana Silva to land her shot at gold.
In addition to the strawweight title fight, Invicta FC 54 will feature ex-champ Machado taking on Contender Series veteran Isis Verbeek in its co-main event. The following match-ups were announced for the card on Tuesday:
- Danni McCormack vs. Karolina Wojcik — for the Invicta FC strawweight championship
- Valesca Machado vs. Isis Verbeek
- Kristina Williams vs. Dee Begley
- Hilarie Rose vs. Andrea Amaro
- Julia Dorny vs. Riley Martinez
