It’s clear the UFC matchmakers have an interesting sense of humor. After losing to Justin Tafa earlier this year, they had heavyweight Parker Porter matched up with his brother, Junior Tafa, at UFC Singapore on Saturday.
The fight began with the two moving towards the centre of the Octagon trying to dominate where the fight went. Parker looked to land a few strikes in a flurry to back Tafa up but Tafa landed a knee and a hook, wobbling Porter. The 38-year-old managed to regain position though and clinched Tafa against the cage. He seemed to be deep in a single leg attempt but couldn’t quite manage to takedown Tafa, and on the break of the clinch was caught with an elbow, from there Porter looked to be dazed again. Tafa smelt blood and went for the finish, landing a hellacious right hand, walking off as Porter lay unconscious.
That’s two Tafa losses for Porter as he has now been finished by both of the Kiwi brothers. At 38-years-old and another knockout loss, Parker Porter’s future in the UFC may be under question. Junior Tafa on the other-hand is just 26-years-old and will get some momentum going now after picking up his first UFC win.
Official Result: Justin Tafa def. Parker Porter via KO, Round 1, 1:24
