Lightweight Terrance McKinney looked to pull out of a two-fight skid when he took on Mike Breeden on the UFC Vegas 78 preliminary card on Saturday.
McKinney was stepping up on short notice in the fight, after Lando Vannata had been forced off the card earlier this month.
The fight began with McKinney putting on his patented forward pressure. After pressuring Breeden against the cage, he landed a big body kick that landed flush to the ribs of Breeden. A head kick followed that once the guard had dropped and some additional body shots began to slow Breeden’s movement. A failed takedown attempt from Breeden saw McKinney momentarily take the back of “Money” Breeden. From there the 34-year-old managed to somehow return to his feet, but it may have been better to stay on the ground to try and recover from the pressure of McKinney.
The pressure didn’t let up though, McKinney began landing more body shots straightaway. That was enough for Chris Tognoni to step in and put an end to Breeden’s suffering.

In his Octagon interview with Daniel Cormier, McKinney called to be put on the Boston card that is next week, until he found out it was only next week.
With the win, McKinney snapped a two fight losing skid whilst also increasing Breeden’s losing streak to three, and still winless with the promotion.
Official Result: Terrance McKinney def. Mike Breeden by TKO (strikes), Round 1, 1:25
