Back in the confines of the UFC Apex this Saturday, UFC Vegas 78 brought a welterweight headliner, the featherweight return of Cub Swanson, an Ultimate Fighter champ, and plenty of promising match-ups as part of the promotion’s latest Fight Night show.
In the main event, Vicente Luque returned from a year off prompted by a brain bleed suffered in his last fight, against Geoff Neal. While unquestionably scary, the good news for Luque is that after refraining from sparring for a full six months, no sign of the ailment could be found in his last battery of tests.
Welcoming Luque back to the octagon was former lightweight champ (and welterweight title challenger) Rafael dos Anjos, returning to 170lbs in the twilight of his career in the hopes of extending his run.
The UFC Vegas 78 co-main event, meanwhile, saw Cub Swanson back at 145lbs after a brief stop at bantamweight that did not go his way. Opposite Swanson was Canadian Hakeem Dawodu, facing the biggest name of his career to date.
Kicking off Saturday’s card was TUF 30 winner Juliana Miller, welcoming newcomer Luana Santos to the octagon.
