The UFC is holed up at the APEX in Las Vegas this week after a couple of weeks on the road, with a welterweight main event topping UFC Vegas 78.
The returning Vicente Luque took a year off after being diagnosed with a brain bleed following his last fight, against Geoff Neal. Rafael dos Anjos, meanwhile, is returning to the welterweight division, opting to forgo the harsh weight cut to 155 late in his career. The pair make up Saturday’s main event; featherweights Cub Swanson and Hakeem Dawodu comprise the co-feature.

While there wasn’t a unanimous selection in the bunch for UFC Vegas 78, the co-main event was still a landslide in favor of Canadian featherweight Hakeem Dawodu. Only a single writer responding chose WEC/UFC veteran “Killer” Cub Swanson to defeat the younger man, perhaps thanks to Swanson coming off a loss to Jonathan Martinez, and being 1-2 in his last three.
A similar situation played out in the main event, with all but two staff members siding with former lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos over fellow Brazilian Vicente Luque. Polyana Viana was also a popular choice, with just three writers seeing opponent Iasmin Lucindo picking up the win on Saturday.
