Las Vegas, NV — Like any number of Brazilian fighters, UFC Vegas 78’s Iasmin Lucindo is hoping to fight at home later this year.
Lucindo (15-5) earned a submission win over Polyana Viana on Saturday night to secure her second straight victory inside the octagon. Earlier in the day, UFC President Dana White confirmed a previously reported trip back to Sao Paulo, Brazil which will come on November 4, 2023 with Curtis Blaydes and Jailton Almeida headlining.
Not surprisingly, Lucindo wants on that card.
“Yes, yes. It would be wonderful. Who doesn’t want to fight in Brazil? It would be amazing,” she exclaimed backstage at the UFC Apex, speaking to media outlets including Cageside Press. “It would be wonderful, and I came out of this fight 100%. So if Dana wants to give me that fight, I will be ready for it.”
Lucindo played coy, initially, asked if she had a name in mind when it comes to who she wants to fight next. “As a matter of fact I do have a name. But, you know, I’ve never been one to choose opponents, so whoever Mick and Dana want to give me, I’m here to put on a show for the people,” said Lucindo. “I’ll take anybody on.”
Pressed for that name, Lucindo admitted that she had trouble saying it. “I have a name, but I don’t know how to pronounce her last name,” Lucindo admitted. Turns out, it’s Poland’s Karolina Kowalkiewicz.
And the current season of The Ultimate Fighter, where Conor McGregor has been coaching newcomers against Michael Chandler’s veterans, has inspired the match-up.
“I think, I’ve been watching TUF this season, and I think it’s such a cool concept of the veterans against the newcomers. And I think it would be a really cool fight. I also admire her a lot, I like her style. I think it would be a great fight.”
