Bellator 300 will take place in San Diego, CA on Oct. 7 with four title fights in what looks to be the biggest card for the promotion to date.
Bellator MMA made the announcement via press release on Wednesday. Cageside Press previously reported San Diego as a potential location, with BJPenn.com first to report the date.
In the midst of talks of a potential sale Bellator continues forward towards their 300th card with four major titles on the line in San Diego.
Bellator heavyweight champion Ryan Bader will defend his title against #1 ranked Linton Vassell. Bader is coming off a TKO victory over Fedor Emelianenko in the legend’s retirement fight in Feb. Vassell earned the title shot after knocking out former title challenger Valentin Moldavsky in March.
Bellator featherweight champion Cris Cyborg will finally get her fight with Cat Zingano after a public back-and-forth over social media and interviews. Cyborg last took a decision over Arlene Blencowe at Bellator 279 in April while Zingano brings her 5-fight win streak following a decision victory over Leah McCourt at Bellator 293 in March.
A semi-final matchup in Bellator’s lightweight grand prix will also see the lightweight title defended when Usman Nurmagomedov and Brent Primus fight to decide who will battle for the million-dollar prize in the finals. Nurmagomedov defeated Benson Henderson at Bellator 292 to advance and Primus got past Mansour Barnaoui to earn a shot at the belt.
Bellator flyweight champion Liz Carmouche will defend her title against Bellator legend Ilima-Lei Macfarlane in a fight that not only has the title on the line, but an interesting angle with both women being friends and training partners.
Whether or not this is the last card for the promotion following reports that a sale may be coming is to be seen, but it’s clear that Bellator looks to put on a banger of a card at Bellator 300 Oct. 7.
