London, UK – UFC lightweight Fares Ziam toughed out a decision victory over his hometown opponent Jai Herbert at UFC London on Saturday night, but Ziam felt he gave his opponent a little too much respect in the fight.
“I think I was a little bit too much respect for him. That’s why I don’t go, but I won fight in Paris. The O2 Arena is big moment in my career so I (wanted) the win. I respect too much Jai,” Ziam told reporters including Cageside Press at his post-fight scrum.
The win puts Ziam at 14-4 overall, 4-2 in the UFC, and looking to for a big fight next to make his way into and up the rankings at some point soon. Ziam had a name prepared for a call out of sorts at his post-fight presser.
“I fight everybody. I don’t care. I want (a) fight in Paris. Matt Frevola is good fight I want him. He’s top 15,” he said and mentioned that he would like to fight at UFC Paris later this year.
“But I have time to take top 15. I’m 26-years-old. 4-2 in UFC, and I just want finish my fight. That’s it.”
