Nathaniel Wood Calls For Fight With Edson Barboza In Brazil Following UFC London Win

London, England — Hometown fighter Nathaniel Wood (20-5) picked up his third consecutive UFC featherweight win this past Saturday at UFC London, edging Andre Fili in a three round war.

“The Prospect” moved up a weight class in 2022, despite being just 5ft 6″ and looking like a natural bantamweight. In his prior two outings, he out on striking masterclasses against Charles Rosa and Charles Jourdain, earning him a fight with the experienced, Andre Fili.

Coming into this one, both fighters had a lot of respect for eachother and eachother’s skills, making for a very close and competitive fight. Despite that, it was Wood who fairly got the nod in front of his home fans, making him unbeaten in the UFC when fighting in the UK.

After such a hard fought victory, Wood didn’t want to reign it in and decided to call his shot for his next fight, naming just a few possible names. “I would like to fight a legend of the sport and that’d be like Edson Barboza, maybe in Brazil. It’d be an absolute honour again like I just said with Fili you know, I’ve always been a fan of him [Barboza] for years and you know, I know he’s coming to the end of his career.

“For me someone like ‘The Korean Zombie’ you know, that would be special so yeah, I’d like to get one of the legends before they retire from the sport or go on a decline. Edson Barboza is coming off a win so he’s still a hell of a dangerous opponent so for me it’s a fight that I would like,” Wood said.

One of the two men Wood called out is currently booked, and that is “The Korean Zombie” and he’s booked with Max Holloway. Barboza on the other hand could make sense, and it could be a fight we see next for Nathaniel Wood who will likely fight inside the rankings.
