Las Vegas, NV – The story of UFC flyweight Tatiana Suarez is one of questioning whether or not she’s healthy to fight. Well ask her now, and she’ll give you a date for her next fight.
“I definitely feel a lot better now that I’ve fought, and it’s not like ‘when are you going to fight again, it’s been 500 years’. It’s not like that anymore,” Suarez told Cageside Press at the UFC X during International Fight Week.
“And I have another fight lined up, August 5th, and i’m really excited about that.”
The fight is against former strawweight champion Jessica Andrade at UFC Nashville on Aug. 5th. Having a fight doesn’t just mean that Suarez has something to train for. It’s a sign that she’s healthy.
“Now people, even if they ask me, I have a fight date and it’s always nice to have a fight date because that means I’m healthy,” she said.
Andrade comes in with her reputation as a knockout artist having finished Cynthia Calvillo, Katlyn Chookagian, Rose Namajunas and Karolina Kowalkiewicz on the feet in recent memory.
“All of her finishes are mostly KOs or TKOs or anything like that. I think for me I would say I don’t really see her much as a grappler. I feel like Jessica Andrade would be more the person like ‘I don’t want to grapple you. I want to stand up and try to hit you.’ She’s done it to a lot of girls that try to fight her,” Suarez said.
“For instance Erin Blanchfield. As soon as Erin Blanchfield tried to clinch her she wanted to break free and strike again. So I don’t really feel like she wants to turn this into a grappling match.”
