Niko Price Not Hung Up On Fighting Legendary Robbie Lawler, “Just Another Fight”

Las Vegas, NV – Fighting a legend is one thing, but fighting one who has made it clear that he will retire following the bout is another, and it’s the situation that UFC welterweight Niko Price finds himself in as he takes on Robbie Lawler at UFC 290 on Saturday night.

“Oh yeah the biggest (moment of my career). Stoked man. I’m ready to get in there and get brawling, right,” Price told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.

We’ve seen these types of fights play out many times. The aging veteran ready to hang it up after one more fight, but the hungry opponent who finds himself in the unenviable position of possibly sending them out on a loss. Price doesn’t think about any of that.

“It’s just another fight. I’ve gotten to fight a few legends so it’s nothing new to me. I’m going to go in there, he’s an opponent, and I’m going to try to punch him in the head,” Price said.

This fight with Lawler is one of the more exciting ones on the entire UFC 290 card with two guys who are known to get into brawls in the octagon. Fans are already calling this the likely fight of the night, and with two brawlers like Price and Lawler, that may be what happens.

“You guys all know me. Man when I get in there, there’s no telling what I’m going to do. If the takedown might be there I might take it. If not we’re standing and banging. That’s how it goes with me,” he said.

“I just keep going wherever the fight flows.”
