“Killer” Cub Swanson has revealed the date and opponent for his next fight.
Swanson (28-13), who joined the UFC Hall of Fame (Fight Wing) last year, will face Canadian featherweight Hakeem Dawodu (13-3-1) at a UFC Fight Night event on August 12, 2023.
Cub announced the news himself via social media on Tuesday.
The bout sees Swanson return to the featherweight division after a one-fight stop at bantamweight last year. The California native lost that fight, against Jonathan Martinez, as a result of a leg kick TKO.
Prior to that, Swanson had picked up a win over Darren Elkins in December of 2021 that earned him a Performance of the Night bonus, thanks to a wheel kick finish. Overall, Cub Swanson is 3-2 in his last five fights.
Dawodu will enter the fight off a loss to Julian Erosa that dropped him to 1-2 over his last three fights. All three bouts went the distance. Prior to that, the Calgary-born fighter known as “Mean” Hakeem had put together a five-fight win streak.
The UFC’s August 12, 2023 Fight Night card is booked for the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, and is expected to be headlined by Rafael dos Anjos and Vicente Luque. The following match-ups have been reported for the event:
