Vancouver, Canada — UFC 289 is official.
The Pay-Per-View card’s official weigh-ins took place Friday morning, with a breakneck pace that saw all but two fighters weigh in successfully within the first thirty minutes or so. After a short break, one more (Hawaii’s Dan Ige) had hit the scale, making weight for his main card featherweight fight with Nate Landwehr.
Both women’s bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes and challenger Irene Aldana weighed in early in the window, as did back-up fighter Raquel Pennington. Both main event fighters came in at 135lbs; Pennington was just a hair under championship weight at 134.5.
It doesn’t seem as if “Rocky” Pennington’s services will be required, mind you. As for the rest of the card, no misses, and only David Dvorak looked reasonably drained. Speculation about Charles Oliveira seemed unfounded, with the former lightweight champion clocking in at 154 pounds for his lightweight co-main event against Beneil Dariush.
Full results from Friday’s weigh-in, as well as highlights from the official and ceremonial weigh-ins, can be found below.
