Vancouver – Nobody is looking at UFC featherweight Dan Ige’s fight against Nate Landwehr expecting a boring fight, and he knows that it will be a firefight once he steps into the octagon at UFC 289 on Saturday night.
“He’s a great opponent. Nate’s a guy who’s got a ton of experience. He’s held belts, he’s fought five rounds in other promotions, and I’m honestly just looking forward to the fight,” Ige told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.
“It’s going to be an exciting fight. It’s almost impossible for it to be a boring fight.”
If there’s a fight nobody should miss it’s this one with two men hell-bent on getting the victory whether it’s a technical bout or a complete brawl for as long as it lasts.
“It should be fireworks. I’m well-prepared, I know he’s well-prepared. He’s sacrificed a lot. I’ve sacrificed a lot. The only thing we’ve got left to do is fight on Saturday night,” he said.
Ige has been hoping for higher ranked opponents as he looks for a way up the rankings, and into the title picture. Even without a top 5 opponent he knows his fights will remain exciting regardless of who is standing in front of him.
“Every fight I’m in is going to be an exciting fight. Just the way my style is, and the way Nate’s style…he brings it every single fight and so do I,” he said.
“As far as the rankings go right now I’m just honestly really trying to go out there and rebuild myself, rebuild my name, rebuild my brand. If I went out and fought #4 and won, cool, big deal. It’s not going to earn me a title shot right away. I’m all about winning and racking up those wins.”
