Vancouver – UFC featherweight Nate Landwehr didn’t have a lot of complimentary things to say about his opponent, Dan Ige, on media day other than to say he really should come up with better trash talk leading up to their fight at UFC 289 on Saturday.
Ige had posted a photo of himself on a train saying he was going to take over the train at UFC 289 meaning take over the hype train that he’s saying Landwehr is.
“I see stuff like that I’m like man at least have an original idea. I’ve never heard that one before. I’ve never heard I want to derail the train. That’s the oldest one. Come up with something. That’s wack,” Landwehr told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.
“I get it. You can’t think of nothing else. It’s cool to say. You might as well go with that.”
Trash talk aside Landwehr knows Ige is the real deal and will present some problems on Saturday night.
“Man he’s good. Every day when I was going to sleep for this fight camp I knew I was fighting one of the best in the world, but every day he goes to sleep knowing he’s fighting a f*cking monster,” he said.
The matchup is an exciting one with fans expecting a brawl between Landwehr and Ige
“I got the kind of style to where I can become whatever I need to become. I’ve been pretty good about being a little bit more aware, keeping the distance with kicks and punches, but I can brawl on a dime,” he said.
“I’ve been in the fire so if it becomes a firefight I’m calm in that situation.”
