Karine Silva welcomed fellow Brazilian flyweight Ketlen Souza to the octagon at UFC Vegas 74 on Saturday night, in a fight that was over in little more than a minute.
Silva was coming off a win in her own promotional debut, while former Invicta FC champ Souza was looking to make a strong first impression.
Unfortunately for Souza, it just wasn’t her night — and after a nasty, unpredictable finish, it might be a while before fight fans see her again.
Silva started out loose, throwing a lot of kicks before shooting in and completing an easy takedown. Silva was controlling on top landing some ground and pound before sitting back and going for a leg lock. The squeeze came and you could see something in the knee of Ketlen Souza separate, and the fight was over in a painful way.

Souza was unable to stand as the ref read out the result.
“I felt a pop, it was something weird, and I just let go,” Silva said following the fight, speaking via translator with UFC analyst and former champ Michael Bisping. The victory marks win #16 for Karine Silva, and her seventh straight.
