The second iteration of the Road to UFC tournament kicked off on Saturday, May 27 and continued on Sunday, with the quarterfinal round featuring four weight classes with eight fighters each vying for a UFC deal.
On Saturday, episodes 1 and 2 featured flyweight and featherweight quarterfinal action, and produced some exhilarating results — including a very Matt Brown-like elbow KO by former ONE Championship tournament winner Li Kaiwen.
Would we get similar results on Sunday, with familiar names like former UFC fighter Zhu Rong in action at Road to UFC 2, along with Japanese standouts Kazuma Maruyama and Shohei Nose?
Episode 3 found Rong, still just 23, looking to win his way back into the promotion after going 1-2 inside the octagon in a three fight stint from 2021-22. Rong had bounced back with a win over Felipe Maia at UAE Warriors 34 last year.
