After stepping back into the octagon earlier this year for a flyweight fight, The Ultimate Fighter 23 winner Tatiana Suarez has now booked her return to 115lbs.
Suarez (9-0) will face former Invicta FC strawweight champion Virna Jandiroba (19-3) at the UFC’s August 5, 2023 Fight Night card.
News of the booking was first reported by MMA Melotto.
Tatiana Suarez ended a three plus year layoff in February when she defeated Montana De La Rosa with a guillotine choke in the pair’s flyweight match-up. Extensive injuries (to both her knee and neck) had kept Suarez on the shelf, and it appears the California native is looking to make up for lost time.
Jandiroba has won her last two fights inside the octagon. Most recently, she earned a decision win over fellow Brazilian contender Marina Rodriguez. Joining the promotion in 2019, Jandiroba has posted a 5-3 record overall.
Virna Jandiroba is currently ranked #8 in the women’s strawweight division, per the UFC’s official rankings. Suarez sits at #10 despite not having fought in the weight class since 2019.
No venue, location, or broadcast plan has been reported or announced for the UFC’s August 5, 2023 Fight Night card. The following match-ups are attached to the event so far:
- Virna Jandiroba vs. Tatiana Suarez
- Tanner Boser vs. Aleksa Camur
- Dustin Jacoby vs. Kennedy Nzechukwu
