Assuming he isn’t too busy getting involved in street fights, former UFC star and combat sports veteran Nate Diaz will face Jake Paul in the ring this August.
Paul vs. Diaz is set to take place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on August 5, and finds Youtuber Paul looking to bounce back from a loss to Tommy Fury in his last match. Fury represented the first actual boxer Paul has faced in his fighting career, so there’s little surprise to see “The Problem Child” going back to his bread-and-butter: fighting smaller, past-their-prime mixed martial artists in what has amounted thus far as a license to print money.
As along as boxing and MMA fans keep tuning in, however, these matches will keep happening, despite Paul having signed on with the PFL to fight in the cage towards the end of 2023/early 2024.
In the meantime, it’s Nate Diaz up next for Paul, coming in off a win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 279 last September. Originally expected to face Khamzat Chimaev, a brutal miss at the scales by “Borz” saw Ferguson bumped up to the main event — with Diaz (21-13 MMA) locking up a guillotine choke in the fourth round.
With a ticket pre-sale kicking off later today for the August 5, 2023 event, a well-timed press conference goes down live at 2PM ET, with Paul and Diaz presumably in attendance. A live stream of the affair can be found in the embed above.
