Women’s strawweight Loopy Godinez is once again stepping up on short notice.
With Polyana Viana out of her fight against Emily Ducote at UFC Vegas 73 on May 20, it’s Lupita, a.k.a. “Loopy,” stepping in.
Iridium Sports Agency, who represent Godinez, confirmed the news following an initial report by Eurosport.
A former BTC and LFA champion, Godinez (9-3) has proven to be as game as they come since arriving in the UFC in 2021. That includes stepping in on short notice more than once and claiming the record for both fastest turnaround (7 days) and shortest time between three fights (42 days) in post-tournament era UFC history.
Most recently, Godinez captured the biggest win of her career to date with a split decision victory over Cynthia Calvillo.
Ducote (12-7), a former Invicta FC champ and Bellator MMA title challenger (the latter at flyweight) is 1-1 in the UFC to date. She had a four-fight win streak snapped by Angela Hill last time out.
UFC Vegas 73 goes down at the Apex in Las Vegas on May 20, 2023 with the following fights reported for the event to date:
