Caio Borralho continued his winning streak in the co-main event at UFC Vegas 72, submitting Michal Oleksiejczuk in the second round.
Serving as the co-main event at Saturday’s UFC Vegas 72 was a middleweight match-up featuring Poland’s Michal Oleksiejczuk taking on Contender Series vet Caio Borralho.
The fight was the highest-profile assignment to date for Borralho, winner of his first three fights under the UFC banner. Oleksiejczuk for his part had won his last two.
Round one and it was clear that Oleksiejczuk had the advantage on the feet using his left hand power shot to send Borralho backwards multiple times. The jiu jitsu ace wasn’t fazed however as he fired shots right back at his opponent and tried jumping knees multiple times.
Takedown attempts for Borralho were mostly ineffective until the end of the first round when he got Oleksiejczuk to the ground to end the round.
Round two didn’t last very long as Oleksiejczuk, feeling the urgency of likely losing the first round, went after Borralho and ended up getting taken down, his back taken, and his neck compromised.

Borralho screamed at the camera, with a few obscenities, that he does finish fights. In his post-fight interview, he asked for a higher-ranked opponent after racking up his 11th consecutive victory.
Say what you want about Borralhos’ last three fights being decisions, but this victory very clearly made a statement at the UFC APEX on Saturday night.
