The UFC has had a bit of a rough go ahead of this Saturday’s UFC Vegas 72, losing the card’s original main event (Arman Tsarukyan vs. Renato Moicano) and any number of fights/fighters from the Apex-based event.
On Friday, a couple of fighters flirted with disaster, as Hailey Cowan (137.5) and Irina Alekseeva (140) both missed the bantamweight limit for their fights. Those fights will go forward (at a catchweight), but especially for Alekseeva, in her promotional debut, it’s not a good look — nor was celebrating on the scale despite being four pounds heavy.
On the positive side, both Trey Waters and Marcus McGhee made weight for their short-notice fights.
