A women’s featherweight fight has been added to the UFC’s July 15 card.
145lb staple Norma Dumont (9-2) is expected to face Chelsea Chandler (5-1) at the Fight Night event, with news of the booking coming less than a week after Dumont’s most recent action.
WMMA Rankings was first to report the match-up, with Chandler confirming the booking on social media.
Just last weekend, Dumont was seen defeating Karol Rosa in a three-round unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 71. Prior to that, she turned back boxer/Contender Series alum Danyelle Wolf, in Wolf’s promotional debut.
Brazil’s Dumont has been looked at as a potential title challenger at 145lbs, where Amanda Nunes continues to reign. Nunes is expected to fight at UFC 289 in Vancouver on June 10, where she will defend her bantamweight title against Juliana Pena.
Dumont holds a split decision win over Felicia Spencer, who challenged Nunes for the featherweight championship in 2020.
Chandler competed as a featherweight in Invicta FC prior to joining the UFC last year. Her debut, originally scheduled for bantamweight against Leah Letson, was shifted to a 140lb catchweight to accommodate Julija Stoliarenko, who stepped up to replace Letson on short notice. Chandler won the bout via first round TKO, extending her win streak to five straight.
The UFC’s July 15, 2023 event currently breaks down as follows:
