Bantamweight action has made its way onto the UFC’s June 17 Fight Night card, as Brazilian vet Raoni Barcelos (17-4) returns opposite Miles Johns (13-2).
The Fight Night event sees the promotion back once again at the Apex in Las Vegas. News of the booking was announced on Tuesday by Iridium Sports Agency, who represent Johns, following an initial report by Ag.Fight.
Barcelos was last in action in January, where he became the latest opponent to be run through by the undefeated Umar Nurmagomedov, cousin of former UFC lightweight champ Khabib, and brother of Bellator MMA lightweight champ Usman Nurmagomedov.
Prior to that match-up, Barcelos had picked up a decision victory against Trevin Jones. Overall, the Brazilian is 1-3 in his past four, a stretch that commenced in June of 2021.
Johns will enter the fight off a win against Vince Morales last November. A 2019 Contender Series alum, Johns is 4-2 inside the octagon to date.
The UFC’s June 17, 2023 Fight Night card is expected to be headlined by middleweight action, as Marvin Vettori takes on Jared Cannonier. Thus far, the following match-ups have been reported for the event:
- Marvin Vettori vs. Jared Cannonier
- Alessandro Costa vs. Jimmy Flick
- Tereza Bleda vs. Gabriella Fernandes
- Modestas Bukauskas vs. Zac Pauga
