Jim Miller has booked UFC fight number 42.
Lightweight Miller (35-17, 1NC), who holds the record for most fights in the promotion’s history, is set to face off against L’udovit Klein (19-4-1) at an upcoming Fight Night event on June 3, 2023.
MMA Junkie was first to report news of the match-up, with Klein confirming the booking on social media.
When Miller first joined the promotion in 2008 with an 11-1 record, George W. Bush remained U.S. President, the Philadelphia Phillies were days away from winning the world series, and Georges St-Pierre had recently regained his welterweight title.
Few at the time would have predicted Miller’s longevity. But he won his debut at UFC 89 on October 18 of that year, and a second fight in December. Fast forward 15 years, and Miller enters the fight with Klein off a loss to Alexander Hernandez, which snapped a three-fight win streak.
Despite contracting Lyme disease during his fighting career, Miller never withdrew from a bout until a 2021 date with Nikolas Motta had to be cancelled when “A-10” was hit with COVID-19. That fight was later rescheduled for February 2022, with Miller winning via TKO.
The 39-year old has stated a desire to keep competing until at least UFC 300, which should roll around in 2024. At his rate, he’ll probably be entering UFC fight #45 by that point.
Klein will enter the fight off a draw against Jai Herbert at UFC 286 last month. The Slovak is 3-2-1 overall in the UFC to date.
The UFC’s June 3, 2023 Fight Night event goes down at the Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with middleweights Jack Hermansson and Brendan Allen headlining. The following match-ups have been reported for the card:
