Capping off International Fight Week in July, UFC 290 looks to be a solid card thus far.
With two title fights (reportedly) and a number of big match-ups, the July 8, 2023 Pay-Per-View event at the T-Mobile, Las Vegas should be appointment viewing. The latest addition arrived over the weekend, with news that a welterweight fight between Sean Brady (15-1) and Jack Della Maddalena (14-2) was in the works.
The booking shows exactly how highly the promotion regards “JDM,” who debuted in the octagon just last year.
News of the match-up was first reported by Twitter user Bendaman, with Maddalena confirming the date, and Brady confirming both date and opponent on his Instagram Story.
To date, Maddalena has won all four of his UFC bouts, after winning his way into the company on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2021. Most recently, he lit up Randy Brown before catching him in a submission as part of UFC 283 in Perth.
Brady had his undefeated record spoiled last time out, losing via TKO to Belal Muhammad at UFC 280 in October. He sits at #9 in the UFC’s welterweight division, which JDM currently holds the #13 spot.
UFC 290 currently includes the following reported match-ups:
- Alexander Volkanovski vs. Yair Rodriguez – UFC featherweight title unification bout
- Brandon Moreno vs. Alexandre Pantoja – UFC flyweight title fight
- Robert Whittaker vs. Dricus Du Plessis – UFC middleweight title eliminator
- Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Manel Kape
- Jalin Turner vs. Dan Hooker
