The UFC returns to the Apex for the next couple of weeks, ending a welcome road trip that saw the promotion out of its own facility for six consecutive events.
UFC Vegas 71 sees them return home, however, a move that has not exactly been welcomed warmly by fans. And thanks to the loss of Arman Tsarukyan vs. Renato Moicano at the end of the month, the card has lost it’s co-main event of Song Yadong vs. Ricky Simon, which is now the main event on April 29.
Instead, UFC Vegas 71 is topped by heavyweights Sergei Pavlovich and Curtis Blaydes, while a middleweight match-up between Hawaii’s Brad Tavares and Bruno Silva serves as the co-headliner.
Notable names found on Saturday’s card include Bobby Green, Ricky Glenn, and heavyweight prospect Mohammed Usman.
Weigh-ins for the event go down Friday morning in Las Vegas; results can be found below.
Three fighters required the barrier to make weight during the early portion of Friday’s weigh-in window: Jeremiah Wells, Bobby Green, and Brady Hiestand. All three successfully made weight in the end.
There was no barrier saving Priscila Cachoeira on Friday, however. The Brazilian weighed in with just over 15 minutes to go in the weigh-in window, coming in 4lbs over the non-title flyweight limit for her fight with Karine Silva. William Gomis, last to weight in at essentially 2PM on the dot, was one pound over for his featherweight fight with Francis Marshall. Gomis was granted an addition hour to make weight.
Gomis successfully made weight after weighing in a second time, hitting 146.
