The Keyboard Warriors are back on a Sunday afternoon to talk all the madness from UFC 287, the WWE and UFC joining forces, and more!
At UFC 287 Israel Adesanya slayed the king to get his title back from Alex Pereira in an epic two-round battle in Miami, FL. Having met twice in kickboxing prior to their jump to mixed martial arts, Pereira had mounted a comeback victory against “The Last Stylebender” in November to capture middleweight gold.
Adesanya got his revenge six months later, however, with one of the best performances of his career coming against his arch-nemesis.
The co-main event pitted South Florida staple Gilbert Burns against hometown hero Jorge Masvidal. After Burns defeated Masvidal, ‘Gamebred’ gave his retirement speech in front of his hometown, adding in a shout-out to Donald Trump (in attendance) and a dig at Joe Biden.
WWE has been acquired by Endeavor, the UFC’s parent company, with plans to create a new company that will house WWE and UFC. That body will trade under TKO, though the official name for the organization has yet to be announced. As part of the deal’s announcement, valuations of 12 billion for the UFC and 9.3 billion for the WWE were revealed.
