UFC 286 is now official, with just one fighter missing weight at Friday morning’s official weigh-in in London, England.
It was not an easy day at the scales, however. No fewer than seven fighters needed the barrier, including Malcolm Gordon, Muhammad Mokaev, Justin Gaethje, Makwan Amirkhani, Jake Hadley, and Luana Carolina. Only Gordon missed weight, however, coming in 3.5lbs over the flyweight limit for his fight with Hadley.
Gordon, who weighed in second during Friday morning’s two-hour window, did not continue his cut.
Colby Covington was something of a surprise appearance, also using the barrier to hit championship weight at 170lbs. Though Covington’s presence in London this week was known to the media, UFC officials had remained mum on him serving as a backup, and both Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards claimed to have no knowledge of the fact.
Regardless, it doesn’t look like “Chaos” will be needed, as both Usman and Edwards made weight for their trilogy fight.
