Week seven of this year’s PFL Challenger Series featured the final weight class fighting for a sport in the league’s regular season.
While there was one more week of the series to go, that would be the “second chance” fighters, comprised of multiple weight classes. But Friday night in Orlando, Florida it was light heavyweight’s time to shine.
Featured in the PFL Challenger Series Week 7 main event was former UFC middleweight (and later welterweight) Impa Kasanganay. He was making his debut in the weight class, outside of a short-notice change in weight against future TUF winner Bryan Battle early in the pair’s careers.
Opposite Kasanganay, who was coming in off a win over UFC talent Jared Gooden, was Egyptian light heavyweight Osama Elseady.
Also in action, Taylor “Tombstone” Johnson, fighting for the first time since appearing on the Challenger Series in 2022. An LFA, Bellator MMA, and Dana White’s Contender Series alum, Johnson was paired up with Trey Williams — who had once competed for the PFL’s predecessor, the World Series of Fighting.
