It’s light heavyweights in action on week seven of the 2023 PFL Challenger Series, which takes place Friday night in Orlando, Florida.
Thursday, all fighters hit the scales, and all eight men in action successfully made weight for the card, which will see them looking not just to win, but to earn a PFL contract and a spot in the regular season.
Featured in the main event, UFC veteran Impa Kasanganay returns, taking on Egypt’s Osama Elsaidy — with “Tshilobo” a heavy favorite in the fight. Impa’s UFC run had seen him go 2-2, and he was on the wrong end of a Knockout of the Year (and decade quite possibly) winner at the hands of Joaquin Buckley in 2020.
Fast forward a couple of years, and Kasanganay was coming off a win over UFC fighter Jared Gooden last July. Moving up to light heavyweight, he had a chance to rewrite a bit of history if he could jump into the PFL season and find success there.
As Kasanganay told us previously, “life’s not over after the UFC.”
