The UFC has booked a fun lightweight scrap between a couple of fan favorites for April 22.
Bobby Green (29-14-1) will face Jared Gordon (19-6) at a Fight Night event on that date, which does not yet have a location or venue announced.
MMA Junkie was first to report news of the match-up. Cageside Press confirmed the booking on Friday.
Gordon saw a big boost in popularity late last year when he threw down with rising British star Paddy Pimblett. The fight went the distance, with Gordon on the wrong side of a unanimous decision that left many scratching their heads in regards to the scoring.
The 34-year old, a recovered addict whose story has been inspirational to many, has won four of his last six fights.
Green saw his own profile skyrocket after years in the sport after taking on Islam Makhachev on all of a week’s notice last year. He’s lost two straight, after being knocked out by Drew Dober last month.
Prior to that, Green had won two straight, against Al Iaquinta and Nasrat Haqparast.
The UFC’s April 22, 2023 event has no broadcast plan, venue, or location announced. Thus far, the following match-ups have been reported for the show:
- Karol Rosa vs. Norma Dumont
- Iasmin Lucindo vs. Melissa Martinez
- Jared Gordon vs. Bobby Green
