For many MMA fans the return of UFC events can’t come soon enough. With the holiday break coming to a close the UFC will be one of the first major promotions to hold an event in 2023.
On Jan. 14th, from the UFC APEX, UFC Vegas 67 will take place where Roman Imavov and Kelvin Gastelum will face off in the main event.
The first promo of the year for a pay-per-view has been released as UFC 283 will take place from Rio de Janeiro on Jan. 21 with two titles on the line. The promo video can be viewed above.
In the main event Glover Teixiera will battle Jamahal Hill for the vacant light heavyweight title. Teixeira (33-8) will attempt to become a two-time champion in Brazil at UFC 283. He lost his title to Jiri Prochazka at UFC 275. A rematch between the two had been set, but Prochazka suffered a shoulder injury and the fight was canceled. Prochazka then vacated the belt not wanting to hold the division up while he recovered.
After Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev fought to a draw in their light heavyweight title bout the fight between Teixeira and Hill was set.
Hill (11-1) will get his first shot at UFC gold at UFC 283. He’s currently on a three-fight win streak with victories over Jimmy Crute, Johnny Walker, and Thiago Santos respectively.
In the co-main event we will see the fourth installment of the Brandon Moreno vs. Deiveson Figueiredo for the flyweight belt.
