Alex Caceres’ most recent stoppage victories were by submission, but he lived up to the Bruce Leeroy nickname at UFC Vegas 66 with a picturesque head kick knockout.
In the eleventh year of his UFC tenure, Alex Caceres was trying to get back in the win column after the best run of his career came to an end. A loss to Sodiq Yusuff snapped a five-fight win streak for Bruce Leeroy and a match against the typically aggressive Julian Erosa was an opportunity for him to get back to his winning ways at UFC Vegas 66.
Julian Erosa was in the midst of his third stint with the promotion, but it was also his most successful. On his current tenure, Erosa was 5-1 with three stoppages, defeating talented fighters like Charles Jourdain and Hakeem Dawodu.
Leg kicks were the weapon of choice for both fighters to start the fight. Erosa had control of the center of the Octagon as Caceres was content to skate around the cage. Erosa ran in with a combination and caught Caceres, causing him to reset. Caceres then threw a lead left hand that missed, but followed it quickly with a left high kick that caught Erosa cleanly, knocking him down. Caceres followed him and landed the finishing blows to coerce the stoppage.
