A bantamweight match-up between two promising 135lb prospects has been booked for UFC 285.
Da’Mon Blackshear (12-4-1) is set to take on Farid Basharat (9-0) at the event on March 4, 2023, with both men in search of their first UFC win.
A source familiar with the situation confirmed the booking to Cageside Press following an initial report by MMA Junkie.
Blackshear made his UFC debut earlier this year, making the jump to the big show after winning and defending the Cage Fury FC bantamweight championship. Given a tough out against Youseff Zalal in his promotional debut at UFC San Diego in August, Blackshear battled his way through three rounds — with the fight ending in a majority draw.
Undefeated through his last five fights, Da’Mon Blackshear will welcome Contender Series winner Farid Basharat to the octagon in March. Joining brother Javid, Basharat won his way into the promotion care of a unanimous decision victory over Allan Begosso in August.
Basharat underwent surgery on his left arm in October, and recently returned to training.
UFC 285 is scheduled to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 4, 2023. Aside from Da’Mon Blackshear vs. Farid Basharat, there is currently one other fight reported for the event to date: Jessica Penne vs. Tabatha Ricci, a women’s strawweight match-up.
