The lone newcomer on Saturday’s UFC Vegas 65 card, Contender Series alum Tereza Bleda of the Czech Republic put her undefeated, 6-0 record on the line against Natalia Silva in a women’s flyweight contest.
While Bleda was making her first walk to the octagon, Silva was in search of her second win in as many fights under the UFC banner. Both started the night on impressive win streaks.
Early in the fight Bleda timed Silva throwing a spinning kick to try and take her down. Bleda had the bodylock but Silva had some strong takedown defense and balance staying upright. Silva tried to defend using the head and arm throw but let Bleda solidify top position. Silva was able to flip Bleda to her back after some top control from Bleda. Very nicely done, Bleda fought the wrist and locked in a triangle. It was super tight and Bleda was even cranking on the arm but Silva somehow survived to the bell.
In round two Silva opened up with a big strike forcing Bleda to shoot on the legs. Bleda pressed Silva back against the cage as she did early in round one. Silva did get space and landed her left hand but had to start defending the takedown right away. Bleda was able to dump Silva with a double leg. Silva worked right back up to her feet and escaped the clinch. Bleda was visibly tired at the last minute in the round. Silva landed a nice left hand and a combination forcing Bleda to clinch up until the bell.
In the last round, you could see Bleda was gassed. Silva was getting off with her hands landing at a much higher rate. Silva timed Bleda changing levels with a spinning kick right to the face. Bleda rocked on her knees, took another right hand and a few other punches and the ref stopped the fight! Highlight-reel finish from the Brazilian giving Bleda her first career loss.
