MMA legend and UFC lightweight Jim Miller will face Gabriel Benitez on Feb. 18 at a Fight Night event likely to take place at the UFC APEX.
News of the match-up was first reported by ESPN Deportes.
Miller (35-16) is riding a 3-fight win streak with victories over Erick Gonzalez, Nikolas Motta and Donald Cerrone respectively. At 39-years-old he looks to add a 4th straight win when he faces Benitez. His most recent win, over Cerrone, came via guillotine choke and sent “Cowboy” into retirement.
Benitez (23-10) is coming off a TKO victory over Charlie Ontiveros in August. He’s now fully committed to the lightweight division following weight cut issues at 145 pounds.
“Moggly” joined the UFC in 2014, making his promotional debut as part of UFC 280. Prior to that, he had appeared on The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 1, going 1-1 in the TUF house. In the years since, Benitez has picked up notable wins over PFL star Clay Collard, a former UFC fighter himself, and Justin Jaynes.
No broadcast plan has been officially announced for the Fight Night event, and no main event has been reported. Other fights announced for Feb. 18th include:
- Gerald Meerschaert vs. Abusupiyan Magomedov
- Evan Elder vs. Nazim Sadykhov
- Billy Goff vs. Themba Gorimbo
