Update, 10PM ET — The UFC has pulled the post-fight press conference stream for UFC Vegas 61. Looks like no post-fight after all.
Despite the lack of media at the UFC Apex on Saturday — the venue was closed to both media and fans for UFC Vegas 61 — the promotion still planned to put on a post-fight press conference.
The Fight Night card was topped by ranked strawweights looking to make a statement. Mackenzie Dern had won two straight, and was looking to inch closer to the title picture. A win over Yan Xiaonan was unlikely to get her there, but might leave her just a fight or two away from her first crack at gold.
For China’s Yan Xiaonan, her third straight high-profile fight was a chance to snap a two-fight skid, and prove that she could indeed hang with the top of the division.
Also on Saturday’s UFC Vegas 61 card, welterweights Randy Brown and Francisco Trinaldo collided in the co-main event. At 44-years young, Trinaldo was showing no signs of slowing down, and retirement did not appear to be in the cards, he explained during the event’s media day. “I really obviously love to do this. I look at myself in the mirror, and I say ‘man what else are you gonna do? This is what I like to do, this is what I love to do!”
Following UFC Vegas 61, tune in for the post-fight press conference — a live stream can be found in the embed above.
