Invicta FC 49 went down Wednesday night in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and after a night that saw fight after fight go the distance, Jillian DeCoursey flipped the script in the main event.
At age 38, “Lionheart” was competing for a major title for the fight time, and made the most of her atomweight title opportunity, submitting champ Jessica Delboni in the opening round.
One of the more popular figures on the Invicta FC roster, DeCoursey now has two straight wins, and two straight stoppages — one a KO, the other a championship-winning submission. Saying after the fight that she’d take a bit of time off, after that it will be back to the gym preparing for her first title defense for DeCoursey.
Among the nights’ other big winners, Kaytlin Neil defeated fellow TUF 30 castmate Hannah Guy, while Ketlen Souza finally made her Invicta FC debut, coming out victorious. Both fights resulted in unanimous decision wins.
