A middleweight banger featuring two of the division’s popular characters has been added to UFC 282 this December.
“The Action Man” Chris Curtis will face Joaquin Buckley at the event, which takes place December 10, 2022 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Iridium Sports Agency, who represent Curtis, first announced the news on Saturday. Cageside Press subsequently confirmed the match-up.
The fight finds both men looking to return to the win column.
Buckley (15-5) was in action earlier this month at UFC Paris, where he dropped a unanimous decision to French fighter Nassourdine Imavov. That setback snapped a three-fight win streak that “Newmansa” had compiled over the previous year.
Curtis (29-9) also tasted defeat in his last outing, falling to Jack “The Joker” Hermansson at UFC London back in July. That loss, his first as a UFC fighter, snapped an eight-fight win streak that predated his time inside the octagon.
The middleweight veteran courted controversy in the fight when he accused Hermansson of running and flipped his opponent off — but would later apologize for his actions.
Buckley had previously called for a fight with Curtis, something “The Action Man” did not take kindly to, given the pair had recently trained together.
UFC 282 does not yet have a main event officially announced. The final PPV of 2022 for the promotion features the following reported bouts:
- Robbie Lawler vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio
- Edmen Shahbazyan vs. Dalcha Lungiambula
- Billy Quarantillo vs. Alexander Hernandez
- T.J. Brown vs. Erik Silva
- Dricus du Plessis vs. Darren Till
- Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs. Chris Daukaus
- Joaquin Buckley vs. Chris Curtis
