Cory Sandhagen and Song Yadong topped UFC Vegas 60 on Saturday in a key fight for the promotion’s 135lb division.
Despite some time off and back-to-back losses, Sandhagen remained a threat at bantamweight. Song Yadong, meanwhile, was looking to work his way up the ladder against one of his toughest tests to date.
With key bantamweight fights coming up including the title bout between Aljamain Sterling and T.J. Dillashaw, plus Petr Yan vs. Sean O’Malley, the winner of Sandhagen vs. Song could be in line for a massive opportunity.
In the co-main event of UFC Vegas 60, meanwhile, Contender Series alums and fan favorites Gregory Rodrigues and Chidi Njokuani were set to throw down. Both men were proven finishers, making the match-up a hotly anticipated one.
Earlier in the night, women’s flyweight submission leader Gillian Robertson went up against a former training partner in Mariya Agapova, while Damon Jackson entered the cage a week removed from the death of his brother to take on the always game Pat Sabatini. And Joe Pyfer, who was a breakout star from the current season of Dana White’s Contender Series, made his UFC debut.
