Come UFC 282, Billy Quarantillo will welcome lightweight Alexander Hernandez to the featherweight division.
Quarantillo (16-4) and Hernandez (13-5) are set to meet in a 145lb contest at the December card in Las Vegas, Nevada. Iridium Sports Agency, representing both fighters, recently announced the booking.
For Hernandez, the drop down in weight comes after a three-year run of trading wins and losses. That dates back to 2019, starting with “The Great” losing to lightweight legend Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. Following the Cerrone loss, Hernandez bounced back with a win over Francisco Trinaldo, then fell to Drew Dober. He’s 3-4 starting with the Cerrone fight, and 5-4 overall in the UFC.
Prior to his UFC run, Hernandez did compete at 145lbs early in his career.
Quarantillo will also be looking to return to the win column in the fight, after coming up short against Shane Burgos in his last outing. At 4-2 in the UFC, Quarantillo holds wins over Spike Carlyle, Kyle Nelson, and Gabriel Benitez, among others. His other loss inside the octagon came opposite Canadian Gavin Tucker.
UFC 282 is set to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, December 10, 2022. No main event has been announced for the card as of yet, which will be the final PPV card of the year for the promotion. The following bouts have been reported for the event:
- Robbie Lawler vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio
