Paris, France — UFC women’s flyweight Manon Fiorot is unfortunately not fighting at UFC Paris this weekend, but she did stop by Thursday’s media day to speak with the press.
France’s Fiorot (9-1) has looked every bit a contender since arriving in the UFC, and was supposed to fight Katlyn Chookagian in Paris on September 3, and later Jessica Andrade, before her opponent was switched back to Chookagian, at a later date — UFC 280 next month.
No doubt a disappointing turn of events for the French star, who is missing out on the promotion’s inaugural trip to France.
“It’s true, I’m a bit disappointed not to be able to fight on this card,” she told Cageside Press and other media outlets on Thursday. “But I’m really happy to see all the fights, all the French fighters here.”
“I didn’t expect the UFC to come so soon to France, and I hope we can put on a show so we can come back soon.”
When it comes to the game of musical chairs her opponents have been playing, “I don’t even know the reasons why they changed opponents, but I think Katlyn is the more interesting choice for me, since she is the number one ranked,” Fiorot stated. “It doesn’t matter, I’m always ready for whoever it is. So it’s fine by me.”
Fiorot credits Chookagian’s technical ability for her recent success, which has seen “Blonde Fighter” pick up four straight wins. “She’s really technical. She moves around really well. So yeah, I think it’s maybe the technical part.”
“The Beast” also gave her pick for Fight of the Night on Saturday. “I think Nathaniel Wood and Charles Jourdain will be the Fight of the Night. I can’t wait to see this fight.”
