A pair of flyweights with something to prove will throw down at the UFC’s November 19, 2022 Fight Night card.
Zhalgas Zhumagulov (14-7) will face Charles Johnson (11-3) at the upcoming event, which sees both men looking to get back in the win column. Zhumagulov and Johnson announced the booking on their respective social media profiles on Thursday.
In a brief statement accompanying his fight announcement, Johnson, a former LFA flyweight champion, wrote that he was “Excited to announce my next fight against my brother from Kazakhstan, Former Fight Night Gloabal Champ and the number 23 ranked flyweight in the world [Zhalgas Zhumagulov].”
“We both have a lot to prove, should be a great show for the fans!” the American added.
Johnson will enter the fight after suffering a three-round unanimous decision loss at the hands of uber-prospect Muhammad Mokaev at July’s UFC London card. The loss snapped a four-fight win streak Johnson had compiled from 2021 to early 2022.
Zhumagulov is 1-4 inside the UFC, and has dropped two straight fights, to Jeff Molina and Manel Kape. His lone win inside the octagon came against Jerome Rivera last year.
No venue, location, or broadcast plan has been announced for the UFC’s November 19 card, but the following fights have been reported for the date:
- Vanessa Demopoulos vs. Maria Oliveira
- Kevin Natividad vs. Ricky Turcios
- Cody Brundage vs. Rodolfo Vieira
- Jack Shore vs. Kyler Phillips
- Zhalgas Zhumagulov vs. Charles Johnson
