Amanda Ribas and Tracy Cortez will face off at a previously unannounced UFC card this December.
Still a full four months away, the flyweight bout between Ribas (11-3) and Cortez (10-1) will take place on December 3, 2022. Cageside Press confirmed the booking with a source familiar with the situation on Tuesday, following an initial report by ESPN Deportes.
The fight will see Ribas stick with flyweight for the second straight occasion, after going back-and-forth between 115 and 125 pounds of late.
A former Jungle Fight strawweight champ, Brazil’s Ribas started her UFC run in the strawweight divsion. After winning her first three fights in the promotion at 115lbs, she moved to 125 to defeat Paige VanZant in 2020. Her return to strawweight backfired when she was finished by Marina Rodriguez at UFC 257, though she bounced back in her next fight, defeating former Invicta FC champ Virna Jandiroba.
In her last outing, Ribas returned to flyweight, coming up short against Katlyn Chookagian.
After a year on the sidelines, Tracy Cortez returned to action at UFC 274 in May, besting Melissa Gatto via unanimous decision. Cortez has not lost a fight since her professional debut in 2017, and has won her first four fights under the UFC banner.
No location, venue, or broadcast plan has been announced for the UFC’s December 3, 2022 event. No other fights have been reported for the card thus far.
