Over six months removed from her historic upset of women’s great Amanda Nunes, current UFC women’s bantamweight champion Julianna Pena will run it back with her TUF 30 rival at UFC 277 this Saturday.
The pair spent weeks on The Ultimate Fighter 30 getting along more or less amicably, but there will no doubt be some bad blood in the octagon on Saturday. Nunes will be looking to reclaim her 135 pound title (she remains champion of the division that doesn’t exist at 145), while Pena will seek to establish herself as the new best thing at bantamweight after years of dominance by “The Lioness.”
In the co-main event of UFC 277, Brandon Moreno, who had been looking at a fourth fight with flyweight champ Deiveson Figueiredo, will instead contend for interim gold against City Kickboxing’s Kai Kara-France. The winner will likely punch their ticket to a title unification bout later this year, or in early 2023 at the latest.
With UFC 277 going down in Dallas, Texas native Derrick Lewis is also on hand, bringing his knockout power and fun personality with him against Sergei Pavlovich.
Ahead of the event at the American Airlines Center, the promotion hosted a pre-fight press conference on Thursday featuring all of the card’s biggest names. A live stream is available above.
