Invicta FC has lined up an atomweight title fight this September.
During Wednesday’s Invicta FC 48, the promotion’s broadcast team announced that 105 pound champ Jessica Delboni will defend her title against Jillian DeCoursey on September 28, 2022.
No details as to venue or location were announced, and no other fights have been reported for the Fall card.
Brazil’s Delboni (12-3) won the Invicta FC atomweight title last time out, defeating rival Alesha Zappitella to do so. The pair had first met in May of 2021, with Zappitella edging out the challenger by split decision.
After winning the Invicta Phoenix Series atomweight tournament later that year, Delboni earned herself a rematch. This past January, she dethroned Zappitella care of a unanimous decision to claim her first major title.
“Lionheart” Jillian DeCoursey has spent the bulk of her career with Invicta. Last time out, she turned heads with a highlight reel knockout of Bellator and RIZIN veteran Lindsey VanZandt, herself a mainstay with the all-female fighting outfight.
In a rare fight outside the promotion, DeCoursey moved up in weight to challenge Elise Reed for the Cage Fury FC strawweight championship in 2020. She would lose that title bid against the future UFC athlete.
Overall, DeCoursey is 4-2 in six fights in the Invicta FC cage.
