The UFC first event after International Fight Week, capped off by UFC 276, arrives Saturday in the form of UFC Vegas 58 — an ESPN event topped by a potential changing of the guard fight at lightweight.
You heard this joke when they were originally paired up earlier this year: no matter who Rafael dos Anjos vs. Rafael Fiziev plays out, there’s a good chance Rafael’s going to win! Now that we have that out of our system, let’s look at the fight for what it is: old lion versus young cub.
Yet as cliche as it is, that’s the very simple, effective matchmaking that took place with the UFC Vegas 58 main event. RDA still has some gas in the tank, and just battered Renato Moicano in a fight that was supposed to be against Fiziev. The Kazakh, meanwhile, is about eight years younger, has lost just once, and even seems to have the attention of Conor McGregor.
Also on the card, Chase Sherman and Jared Vanderaa in heavyweight violence, Cynthia Calvillo vs. Nina Nunes sees strawweights looking to get a foothold in the 125 pound division, and Caio Borralho vs. Armen Petrosyan serves as co-main event.
Full results from Friday’s official weigh-in, meanwhile, can be found below! That gets underway at 12PM ET.
