Bellator 282: Danny Sabatello Explains Why He Doesn’t Particularly Like Twitter

Danny Sabatello finally got a Twitter account, but he doesn’t particularly like it.

It was a semi-nice day on Twitter back in April when suddenly, there was a tweet from an account with the handle @shockthisworld. There is only one “shockthisworld” on the internet, and that is Bellator bantamweight Danny Sabatello.

His first tweet was a simple one but very on-brand – “Thought long and hard about my first tweet. Here it is. Higo sucks.

Sabatello was always an Instagram guy, but with his growing fame and his name getting in more and more headlines, the fighter from Florida created a Twitter. However, it wasn’t solely his idea; Bellator nudged him a little bit.

While he made a splash on the social media website, Sabatello doesn’t like it because of the fans who talk trash.

“Yeah, if it were up to me, I wouldn’t be on it, but Bellator kind of wanted me to get on it. And a lot of the fans were saying they wanted me to get a Twitter, so you know what, what the hell just got it. But I can’t stay on it too much,” Sabatello told Cageside Press recently. “You know, this is my first time having it, and I don’t really believe in it too much. I don’t really give a f*ck about someone’s lunch or what they’re eating or whatever. This isn’t the Kardashians. And believe it or not, I have a bit of a temper. So I always thought if someone were to tweet at me and talk sh*t, I’d probably find out where they are and just try to go beat the shit out of them.”

“I don’t want a lawsuit— that’s not good for them, and that’s not good for me. It’s not good for anybody. So the key is to go on [Twitter] here and there, but I can’t get caught up in it too much. You know, if I go on there, and I look at some dumb f*ck talking shit to me, I swear to God, I’m going to get on a plane and go find them and break their f*cking head open. So the key is not to go on it too much. But yeah, I’m gonna have a little bit of fun with it.”

Professional athletes have to deal with fans and trolls talking trash daily. For Sabatello, he thinks they are all cowards, and if they were to meet him in person, they’d want an autograph.

“A lot of times these guys are f*cking p*ssies. You know, you look at them, and they’re just losers. A lot of the people that are talking trash online — if they saw me in person, they’d ask for an autograph. So I don’t try to put too much stock in it,” Sabatello said. “But you know what, there should be consequences for your mouth and talking that trash online. The good thing about being online is they think that they’re safe. They can say this shit because they’re safe, but they’re not safe. I have a way of finding out anybody, and yeah, so hopefully that doesn’t ever happen, God willing.”

Sabatello returns to action this Friday in the quarterfinals of the Bantamweight Grand Prix. He faces Leandro Higo. And just like he wrote in his first tweet, Sabatello thinks he sucks.
