A fight between two surging featherweights is on deck for the UFC’s September 17 event.
Damon Jackson (21-4-1) will face Pat Sabatini (17-3) as part of the Fight Night card, Iridium Sports Agency announced on Thursday. Jackson also confirmed the news on his own social media profiles.
Both Jackson and Sabatini have found considerable success in the UFC’s 145 pound division of late. Damon, a.k.a. “The Leech,” has won three straight bouts, with a win over Charles Rosa last October followed up by two victories this year.
In March, Jackson submitted Kamuela Kirk; that was followed by a decision win over TUF 29 alum Daniel Argueta earlier this month at UFC Vegas 56.
Damon Jackson is currently on his second stint with the UFC, originally competing for the promotion from 2014 to 2016. He would return to the regional circuit after going 0-1-1, 1NC, putting time in with LFA before making his return.
Sabatini has won all four of his UFC fights to date. He entered the promotion as a two-time Cage Fury FC featherweight champ in 2021, defeating Tristan Connelly, Jamall Emmers, and Tucker Lutz by year’s end.
In April, Sabatini returned to the octagon, claiming a unanimous decision win over T.J. Laramie at UFC Vegas 51.
Having won six straight overall, Sabatini also has notable wins from earlier in his career over current UFC figher Tony Gravely, and prospect Da’Mon Blackshear.
The UFC’s September 17, 2022 Fight Night card does not yet have a venue, location, or broadcast plan officially announced. The following match-ups have been reported for the date, with several having moved from September 10:
